Providing for effective reintegration of violent extremist offenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina (PER-VEO) - Phase II
At a glance
This project aims to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in enhancing public safety while promoting the sustainable rehabilitation and reintegration of violent extremist offenders into local communities.
It will do so by strengthening institutional frameworks and ensuring sustainable operational capacities to address current trends and needs in the management, rehabilitation and reintegration of sanctioned persons, with a particular focus on violent extremist offenders and radicalised individuals.
The project will strengthen the skills of relevant practitioners involved in rehabilitation and reintegration, with special attention to vulnerable groups, including women. It will support penitentiary staff and local actors in applying gender-sensitive and needs-based approaches to address the specific challenges related to these groups.
Building on previous initiatives, the project will continue to strengthen the Centre of Excellence in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a leading training and knowledge hub for prison staff and other professionals working on the rehabilitation and reintegration of violent extremist offenders.
The project will also promote the well-being and resilience of prison staff working with violent extremist offenders.
