Training of police officers in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues while prisons welcome information technologies

Training of police officers to deal with persons deprived of liberty while observing their human rights received a new boost at the Steering Committee meeting of the joint EU/Council of Europe Action in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, prisons are expected to host expert assessment visit to assess the need for introduction of information technologies in daily management of prisoners.

The Steering Committee of the Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey Action in BiH ˝Enhancing human rights protection for detained and sentenced persons˝ also discussed on 18 June in Sarajevo the impact of the training material produced within the scope of this Action in increasing knowledge and skills of prison staff to provide treatment and health care to detainees and prisoners in line with the European standards.

Dear visitor,

Thank you for visiting the website of the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo. Here you will find information about the activities of our Office, as well as links to other information, news and documents relating to the Council of Europe’s work, such as conventions, reports, and recommendations of this Organisation and its various bodies. Our Office in Sarajevo contributes to this partnership, by providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its authorities, institutions and people to give practical meaning to the principles of human rights, democracy and the rule of law which are common to all 46 member states of the Council of Europe. I hope that you will find the information here thought-provoking and useful, and would welcome your feedback and suggestions which will be used to further improve our website.
