Following a counrty-specific recommendation by the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) to the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina “to review the age assessment procedures, ensuring that the best interest of the child are effectively protected and taking into account the Convention on the Rights of the Child and General Comment No 6 of the Committee on the Rights of the Child”, related study on assessment of the age of children at risk of trafficking in human beings in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been developed and published in the framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe action “Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in Bosnia and Herzegovina“.
The study stresses the importance and relevance of the age assessment of children at risk of trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina and maps the applicable law and policy frameworks and institutional mandates as well as the good example of the canton of Sarajevo. It explores opportunities for developing or strengthening an age assessment procedure that is meaningful and feasible for the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is conducted in accordance with international and European standards.
The action "Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in Bosnia and Herzegovina" is implemented within the joint programme of the European Union/Council of Europe "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022".
