Back Study Visit of a Delegation of the Constitutional Court of Turkey to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights

The tenth study visit under the Joint Project on “Supporting Individual Application to the Constitutional Court in Turkey” was organized to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights (the Court) on 2-4 July 2018. A delegation of 19 participants consisting of Deputy Secretary General, Chief Rapporteurs and rapporteurs of the Turkish Constitutional Court participated in the study visit.

During the study visit, the delegation had meetings with the senior lawyers from the Turkish divisions of the Court where they discussed functioning, procedure and admissibility criteria of the Court as well as the recent case law on the right to liberty and security, the right to a fair trial, the right to life, prohibition of torture, the right to respect for correspondence, the freedom of expression and the protection of property.

The delegation was also briefed on the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Programme, the Venice Commission and CDCT.
