The Council of Europe launched the HELP online course Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights bringing together international experts, representatives of civil society organisations and legal staff of the parliament working on parliamentary oversight over the execution of ECtHR judgments by the government.
The online launch of HELP course was organised under the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Supporting Parliamentary Oversight over the Execution of the European Court of Human Rights Judgments in Georgia”
This HELP course Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) aims at providing necessary knowledge for legal professionals to apply the European Convention on Human Rights properly and offers possibility to be acquainted both with the text of the ECHR itself and with the methodology and the procedure followed by the European Court of Human Rights in interpreting it. In a new separate module developed in 2019, the course also explains the process of execution of the judgments of the ECtHR as well as of the supervision of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers at over that process.
The updated course on Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human rights will be implemented for the first time in Georgia. The course gives the possibility to participants to explore materials using different tools such as presentations, interactive screens, knowledge checks and case study.
After the pilot edition, the course will become publicly available in Georgian on the HELP online platform.
