Back From 1 January to 31 December 2026, GREVIO is taking on the presidency of the Platform of Independent Expert Mechanisms on Discrimination and Violence against Women (EDVAW Platform). During its presidency, GREVIO is committed to playing an active role in promoting the EDVAW Platform’s activities and advancing its shared priorities.

From 1 January to 31 December 2026, GREVIO President Maria-Andriani Kostopoulou will be taking on the presidency of the Platform of Independent Expert Mechanisms on Discrimination and Violence against Women (EDVAW Platform). This unique forum brings together seven United Nations and regional independent expert mechanisms dedicated to combatting discrimination and violence against women and girls. United by common objectives and complementary mandates, these bodies work collectively to advance women’s rights worldwide. By joining forces under the Platform, they strengthen institutional co-operation, enhance thematic synergies across regions, and highlight women’s rights issues of global significance.

Taking on this role for the second time, GREVIO’s presidency will put into focus the priority theme of the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, offering reflections and considerations around ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls emanating from the findings of the seven Platform monitoring mechanisms and echoing the voices and lived experiences of women and girls.

During its presidency, GREVIO is committed to playing an active role in promoting the EDVAW Platform’s activities and advancing its shared priorities.
