11 NOVEMBER, 10.30 – 11.45

Judges and magistrates play the crucial final role in bringing perpetrators of cybercrimes to justice. This requires in depth knowledge and understanding of the wide range of offences against and involving computers, including the different ways they can target and affect women and men. It also involves being able to assess and appropriately make use of electronic evidence, which may include sensitive personal data. Ensuring that women are well represented as judges – at all levels of seniority – also enables more effective adjudication of cases involving cybercrimes against women.

Drawing on experience from judges from across the world, this workshop will showcase how women are contributing to the effective adjudication of cybercrime cases, and identify what is needed to further promote the role of women in this sphere. It will also explore how to enhance the process of adjudicating cybercrimes against women.

This workshop is co-hosted by the International Association of Women Judges.
