Judges and prosecutors, but also judicial assistants, registrars and prosecutors’ consultants  from the Republic of Moldova increased their knowledge on the thematic of combating hate crime

On 13 October 2021 and 04 November 2021, two training courses on combating hate crime were carried out by the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership” in co-operation with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, aiming to increase the knowledge and abilities related to cases of hate crimes, including the national regulation and international practice in the field, and to develop specific competences in working with victims of hate crimes.

The seminar on 13 October brought together more than 40 participants, including judicial assistants, registrars and prosecutors’ consultants from the Republic of Moldova for a practical course, using experiential learning, analysis of the most recent tendencies in the practice of international instances. On 04 November a group of 19 prosecutors and judges gathered for a one-day course on hate crime and a practical dialogue on actual problems in enforcing the non-discrimination legislation, encountered by the participants of the group in their current activity.

 

The activities are part of a series of project events in cooperation with the National Institute of Justice planned for this autumn and will be followed by a training for judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova on hate speech, based on HELP course in the period October-December 2021.

 

The trainings were organized in the framework of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate speech and hate crime in the Eastern Partnership” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance.
