The Council of Europe project “Aligning Laws and Policies with the Istanbul Convention” supported the Ministry of Justice in delivering specialised training for facilitators from the Kosovo Correctional Service on the implementation of the National Programme for the Treatment of Perpetrators of Violence against Women.
During the ten-day course, 16 facilitators enhanced their knowledge and practical skills for implementing the programme in correctional institutions. The training placed strong emphasis on ensuring victim safety remains the highest priority, alongside holding perpetrators fully accountable for their actions.
The National Programme is designed to guide perpetrators through a structured, transformative process which encourages the adoption of non-violent, respectful and responsible behaviour within their interpersonal relationships. It overall aims at laying the foundations for genuine and sustainable behavioural change of perpetrators, while contributing towards further prevention of violence against women.
