Experts from the Institute for Education Improvement that connects selected subjects of the national curricula with the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) had its second operational meeting on 25-28 March. The working group members were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation of the Republic of Serbia.

The goal of this workshop was to continue the work that commenced during the first workshop and to start with the process of writing the manual that teachers will be able to use in their teaching practice. During the workshop, the working group members discussed the structure and the scope of the text, taking into consideration the benefits of fostering a democratic culture in the classroom.

Besides using RFCDC as the primary resource in producing this manual, the members found that the publication “How to achieve a democratic culture in schools - examples of best practice” provides them with valuable insight from the perspective of teaching and how the classes could look like.

The action “Quality education for all” is implemented under the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022“.
