The Council of Europe’s Action on Countering Corruption and Economic Crime (ACEC) organised a webinar focusing on evolving anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) developments for the financial sector.
The event brought together 53 AML/CFT compliance officers, KYC and frontline staff in various financial and non-banking financial institutions, including representatives from the Central Bank, the Banking Association, and the Financial Intelligence Unit.
The webinar addressed the recent international requirements focusing on FATF, European Union AML reform package, the expanding role and mandate of the newly established Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) and their impact for Kosovo’s financial sector. A valuable exchange focused on practical solutions, regulatory alignment with FATF standards, and strengthening transparency and resilience in the financial system.
Moreover, participants benefitted from focused presentations by Council of Europe experts on evolving Customer Due Diligence requirements, including risk-based compliance and enhanced due diligence for high-risk customers and politically exposed persons. The sessions also addressed practical implementation challenges such as digital onboarding and transaction monitoring, prompting participants to discuss current institutional bottlenecks, supervisory expectations, and immediate domestic priority reforms necessary to strengthen the integrity of the financial system.
The activity was organised within the framework of the Action on Countering Corruption and Economic Crime funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.
