ECN Webinar #9/2024 Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence – What does it mean for the judiciary? Navigating HUDERIA and CEPEJ Ethical AI Charter Assessment Tool

The Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law was adopted on 17 May 2024 by the Committee of Ministers and will be opened for signature as of September 2024.

What are the practical implications for the judiciaries that are already using or planning to use AI systems? Are new approaches to a human rights impact assessment for judicial AI systems needed?

On 4 July, the European Cyberjustice Network (ECN) will discuss the interplay between the draft Methodology for the Risk and Impact Assessment of AI Systems (HUDERIA) with sectoral justice specific tools such as  the CEPEJ “Assessment Tool for the operationalisation of the European Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence in judicial Systems and their environment” as well as national approaches.
