Introduction

In the previous two modules you focussed on the theory of intercultural competence underpinning the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE) and the structure of the AIE document. In this module you shift your attention to how other educators are already working with this pedagogical tool. By engaging with the professional experiences of others and applying your knowledge of intercultural competence, you gain insights into how the tool works in practice.

Outcomes

By the end of this module you should have:

  • Become familiar with contexts in which the AIE can be used
  • Acquired clarity about the educator's role in using the AIE
  • Looked at strategies for dealing with problematic stories
  • Considered ethical issues involved in using the AIE
