On 26 and 27 September 2019, a representative of the Execution Department participated in the annual conference of the Law and Development Research Network at Humboldt University in Berlin.
She was part of a Panel examining the execution of judgments of the regional human rights courts which also included lawyers from both the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. The Panel identified the different instruments and methods of monitoring compliance in each system, the rates of implementation of judgments and the obstacles in implementation. It also discussed what the different systems could learn from each other, what best practices could be shared and what role international development can play in supporting them.
