World Forum for Democracy 2016 – Democracy and equality - does education matter?
The Congress will take an active part in the World Forum for Democracy 2016 to be held in Strasbourg on 7 and 9 November, which will be centred on the theme “Democracy and equality - does education matter?”. The President of the Congress, Gudrun Mosler-Törnström (Austria, SOC), will be present at the official opening of the Forum and during its two plenary sessions. On 8 November 2016, the Congress will sponsor two working sessions (Labs): Gudrun Mosler-Törnström will speak in Lab 4 on “Unlocking parliament” and Xavier Cadoret (France, SOC), Vice-President of the Congress and Mayor of Saint Gerand le Puy, will address Lab 7 on “Reloading Elections”. These Labs will be respectively moderated by Andreas Kiefer, Secretary General of the Congress and Jean-Philippe Bozouls, Director of the Congress. Among the other Congress members who will participate in the Forum are: Henrietta Bero (Hungary, EPP-CCE), Deputy Mayor of Tata, Robert-Csongor Gruman (Romania, EPP-CCE), Vice-President, Covasna County Council, Sergii Mazur (Ukraine, ECR), Mayor of Balta, Patrick McGowan (Ireland, ILDG), Councillor within the Donegal County Council, Sevdia Ugrekhelidze (Georgia, EPP-CCE), Member of Tbilissi Assembly, Paul White (United-Kingdom, ECR), Councillor within the Lancashire Council.
