Second meeting of the Advisory Council of the Government Agent of the Republic of Moldova

On 28 March, the Department for the Execution of Judgments participated in Chișinău at the second meeting of the Advisory Council of the Government Agent of the Republic of Moldova. The Advisory Council is composed of the Government Agent and representatives of the relevant national authorities, the Ombudsperson, academia and civil society. Its main goal is to contribute to timely and effective implementation of the European Court’s judgments in the Republic of Moldova, through co-ordinated action of all national actors concerned and by ensuring the necessary support at the highest political level.   

At its second meeting, the members of the Advisory Council discussed a number of issues pending execution before the Committee of Ministers, notably domestic violence (T.M. and C.M), extra-legal transfer of Turkish teachers to Türkiye (Ozdil and Others), lack of or inadequate medical care during detention (Cosovan), forced abortions and birth control imposed on applicants with intellectual disabilities (G.M. and Others), lack of safeguards and of independent review of the decision to declare a person wanted (Negru), non-enforcement of national judgments concerning social housing (Olaru and others), as well as other issues.

The event took place within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the Human Rights Compliant Criminal Justice System in the Republic of Moldova” implemented by the Co-operation Programmes Division of the Council of Europe.
