The needs assessment in the area of social rights protection in the Republic of Moldova was launched

On 19 August 2020, the first expert discussion with representatives of several relevant national and international organisations were held as part of the needs assessment in the area of social rights protection in the Republic of Moldova, which was launched in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Framing cooperation for social rights development in the Republic of Moldova”. Meetings and discussions with the national authorities are still ongoing.

The purpose of the needs assessment is to identify the key shortcomings in the field of social rights and make recommendations for future cooperation activities to promote the protection of social rights in line with the European Social Charter.

Due to the global health emergency and consecutive introduction of restrictions on cross-border travel, the needs assessment meetings are conducted remotely, using the means of information and communication technologies.

The project on “Framing co-operation for social rights development in the Republic of Moldova” was launched in July 2020 as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020. It aims to assist the Moldovan authorities to enhance the respect for social rights in line with the provisions of the European Social Charter and in particular to assess the current state of affairs in the area of social rights protection in the Republic of Moldova and provide the scope for further enhancing the respect of social rights.
