14:00-16:00 (EET)/ Multilevel governance for the implementation of social rights
Parliamentary Asembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and Congress of Local and Regional Authorities (Congress)
Venue : Palace of the Republic: Library Biblioteca "Onisifor Ghibu", Nicolae Iorga 21 A str. Registration here Programme
The PACE and the Congress are committed to the promotion of the European Social Charter (revised) by developing specific actions in this area in the run-up to the High-Level Conference (HLC). Sharing the vision that full implementation of social rights, including in housing and health protection, can only be achieved through multilevel governance and coordination, they launch a call to governments at all levels to engage in the exchange between national, regional and local representatives.
A proposed side event dedicated to multilevel governance towards the implementation of social rights with a thematic focus on the rights to housing and health protection is based on collaboration between the PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development (AS/Soc) and the Congress Committee on Social Inclusion and Human Dignity (CG-SOC), supported by the Congress Human Rights Unit.
The event aims to showcase recent activities of PACE and Congress and explore challenges which require the attention of stakeholders gathered at the HLC, possibly leading to new joint activities.
