Social Rights

Today, the President of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR), Aoife Nolan, alongside General Rapporteur Kristine Dupate and committee member Kristina Koldinska, engaged in a constructive exchange with representatives from the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).

The meeting began with President Nolan presenting an overview of the ECSR’s reporting and collective complaints procedures. Discussion topics centered on:

 Description of Charter monitoring processes and ECSR case law;

 Protection from labour exploitation and trafficking in human beings;

 Charter protections for vulnerable groups, such as children, migrant workers, Roma, persons with disabilities, asylum seekers, refugees and persons in an irregular situation;

 The right to health protection;

 Social integration, including access to the labour market and education;

 Gender equality and social exclusion;

 Charter monitoring procedures and ECSR case law and the possibility for GRETA to submit third party interventions in Collective Complaints.

The President of GRETA, Ms Conny Rijken provided an overview of GRETA’s current monitoring cycle’s focus.

Both ECSR and GRETA highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between their respective monitoring activities. Such collaboration is vital for ensuring non-discrimination and effective protection for society’s most vulnerable members.
