Today the Council of Europe held the first of two workshops under the project to 'Map national responses to hate speech in the Republic of Moldova'. 

The workshop follows desk research and interviews with key stakeholders to prepare an initial map of hate speech in Moldova. The workshop included participants from the Ombudsperson's Office, the Press Council, teachers and youth workers and NGOs. Using an eletronic white board the participants updated the initial map, mapped the ecosystem of actors and  their roles, and explored the challenges and possible solutions to creating a more comprehensive response to hate speech.

A second workshop will be held on 30 September with representatives from the General Police Inspectorate, the Equality Council, the General Prosecutor's Office amongst others. Following the feedback from all the workshop participants, the map will be finalised and a report will be prepared summarising the project findings and recommendations.
