The establishment of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) Training Centre is a strategic national priority under the Republic of Moldova’s Growth Plan 2025–2027. The Centre is a pioneering national institution in the AML/CFT area and will serve as a specialised national platform for AML/CFT capacity building, providing specialized training and certification for professionals engaged in preventing and detecting money laundering and terrorist financing.
Within the framework of the project “Action against Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing in the Republic of Moldova”, the Council of Europe provides necessary support for launching the AML/CFT Training Centre. Most recently, a Training of Trainers event for lecturers of the AML/CFT Training Centre of the Republic of Moldova was organised.
All sessions combined expert-led presentations with interactive discussions and participant engagement. The training was delivered by the Council of Europe international expert, who provided both technical insights and practical guidance tailored to the needs of national trainers. With the new knowledge and skills, the national trainers are well equipped for enhancing the AML/CFT capacities of the national stakeholders in the Republic of Moldova.
The Training of Trainers event represents a major milestone in the operationalisation of the AML/CFT Training Centre. Moreover, it could also be regarded as another important step in strengthening the sustainability and quality of AML/CFT compliance in the Republic of Moldova, contributing to enhanced professional capacity, consistent application of AML/CFT standards, and increased resilience of the national system against money laundering and terrorist financing.
