The Council of Europe organised a series of regional awareness-raising workshops on corruption prevention and integrity measures at local level in Albania from 10–13 March 2026.
The workshops were held in Korça, Tirana, Vlora and Shkodra. They were organized in cooperation with the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, the Agency for the Support of Local Self-Government and the National Association of Municipalities of Albania.
Representatives from Albania’s 61 municipalities discussed recent legislative and policy developments related to corruption prevention, including conflict of interest management, whistleblower protection, integrity planning, transparency mechanisms, and coordination with central authorities.
Participants were also introduced to comparative good practices from Council of Europe member states and to the mandate and evaluation process of GRECO (Group of States Against Corruption), the Council of Europe’s anti-corruption monitoring body, in view of its 6th round of evaluation.
As a result of these regional sessions, municipal representatives gained practical knowledge and committed to rolling out corruption prevention and integrity measures within their local governments, contributing to a more resilient and accountable public administration at local level.
These workshops were organised under the project “Enhancing Public Sector Resilience Against Corruption”, co-funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe.
