The Centre of Expertise provides policy advice assistance to the Hellenic Ministry of Interior to support the ongoing revision of the « Kallikratis » reform, the national legislation on local government.

The Centre of Expertise has developed policy advice reports on five key areas of local governance in Greece:

• Improvement of distribution and exercise of competences in island municipalities;
• Intergovernmental fiscal relations and local financial management;
• Improvement of the fiscal monitoring system in local government;
• Peer review report - Distribution of competences between the state and local authorities of both tiers;
• Governance of metropolitan areas.
