7 November, 14.00 - 17.30

Current scale and quantity of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence, with associated challenges related to cloud computing and jurisdiction, underline the need for effective criminal justice response, making use of frameworks such as the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, including those developed in the 2nd Additional Protocol.

The Protocol aims to respond to these challenges by providing tools for enhanced cooperation and disclosure of electronic evidence - such as direct cooperation with service providers and registrars, effective means to obtain subscriber information and traffic data, immediate cooperation in emergencies or joint investigations - that are subject to a system of human rights and rule of law, including data protection safeguards.

The workshop will facilitate a wider awareness on the new tools and procedures under the Protocol, promote its signature and offer further insights on capacity building needs in relation to its future implementation.
