On 31 March 2016, the European Conference on Good Governance at Local Level took place in Sofia in the framework of the Bulgarian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
This event presented an excellent opportunity for an exchange of knowledge, best practice and experience on issues related to good governance as well as to take stock of the Council of Europe’s tools in this field.
The Conference, prepared by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of Bulgaria in cooperation with the European Committee on Democracy and Governance (CDDG), focused on the implementation of the Strategy for Innovation and Good Governance at Local Level (in particular in Bulgaria and in Norway) and on presentations and exchanges around three of the Twelve Principles of Good Democratic Governance: Efficiency, Ethical Conduct and Openness and Transparency.
The conclusions of the conference will inspire future work on good governance by the CDDG.
