The Muslim Council of Britain: Young people facing hate speech online are most vulnerable

In my online meeting with Zara Mohammed, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, we discussed common areas of concern and future cooperation.

Secretary General Zara Mohammed emphasized that young people are particularly vulnerable to anti-Muslim hate speech on the Internet.

She supported the idea to assess the nature and impact of online hate speech in different European countries, and to exchange best practice in the development of counter strategies.

I am grateful to the Muslim Council of Britain for its offer of cooperation in this endeavour and I hope to invite Zara Mohammed to the Council of Europe for an exchange with experts in the near future.
