Institutions’ perspectives -  Democratic foresight

2 November 2026 - 16.30-18.00 / Room 1 - Palais de l'Europe

INTERPRETATION: FR/EN

This session will present the findings of the European Movement Germany’s survey on “The Role of Business in Democratic Resilience in Germany” and of the Friends of Europe’s Report “Voices for Choices 2026: Is Europe ageing fairly?”. The session will explore how democratic resilience can be strengthened across generations and across different sectors of society, including the private sector.

It will examine the role of businesses and workplaces as actors in safeguarding democratic structures, alongside the challenges posed by demographic change, political participation and intergenerational fairness. The discussion will ask: How can businesses, democratic institutions and citizens contribute to resilient democratic societies? And how can democratic foresight help anticipate the long-term consequences of decisions taken today?
