About the Project
The project “Support to modernisation of court management in Georgia: Phase II” aims to further improve the efficiency of the functioning of courts by:
• Facilitating modernisation of court management and supporting the exchange of good practices between pilot courts and during Court managers’ forum
• Building the capacity of justice professionals and supporting the application of CEPEJ tools including but not limited to backlog reduction, judicial time management, performance evaluation, and satisfaction surveys
• Increasing judges’ referrals to mediation
• Improving the collection and analysis of mediation case data
The project will support further application of European standards and will contribute to the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.

How does the Project work?
Through a combination of tailored policy, capacity-building and awareness raising actions.
Who benefits from the project?
Court Users, judicial assistants, court managers, court staff, Mediators’ Association, mediators, Bar Association, and lawyers.
What do we expect to achieve?
- Individual court coaching projects to improve court performance and quality of services provided to users (including support to conducting court users’ satisfaction surveys)
- Developing recommendations and measures to introducing the Backlog reduction tool
- Developing recommendations on the optimisation of the workload of judges and court staff
- Organising capacity building activities to improve the collection, processing and analysis of data on the functioning of the judicial system and judicial statistics according to the CEPEJ methodology (in coordination with the regional project Justice Dashboard EaP)
- Introducing specific training modules on the efficiency and quality of justice
- Organising Managers' Forums on selected topics
- Organising capacity building activities for judges on referral to mediation as well as for lawyers and mediators based on relevant CEPEJ tools
