Resource Officers of Educational Institutions enhance knowledge on human rights education

A new online training course on human rights education has been launched. The course is being run by the resource officers, psychologists and social workers who have already received training under the Human Rights Education Learning Programme for resource officers developed by the Council of Europe experts. This time they will train their colleagues on human rights education to help in effectively leading the human rights education process in their schools.

The online training course covers topics such as hate speech, discrimination and related legal aspects; cyberbullying and hate speech online; human rights and modern challenges; children's rights; stereotypes and prejudices; rights of children with disabilities and special educational needs, etc.

Originally, 20 resource officers, psychologists and social workers have undergone the training for trainer (ToT) programme , and 7 were selected to hold the online training courses for their colleagues. In total, 140 people were trained in Tbilisi, Adjara, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli.

The Human Rights Education Learning Programme for resource officers is based on the non-formal educational principles: learning through experience and co-operation while using the Council of Europe resources on human rights education. It is implemented with the support of the Council of Europe and in co-operation with the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions.

This activity is supported by the co-operation Project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia” which is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
