Presentation of the New Website of the State Audit Office of Georgia that Aims to Facilitate Transparency of Political Party Finances

On 5 December 2016 the Financial Monitoring Service of Political Parties of the State Audit Office of Georgia presented its new website (www.monitoring.sao.ge) that was developed with the financial by the support of the Council of Europe and aims to enhance transparency of political party finances.

While making his opening remarks, Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, underlined the importance of safeguarding transparency of party finances and to this end expressed readiness to continue working with the State Audit Office.

The search engine of the website makes it easier for any interested external user to access and process information on political party finances. Moreover, work on the electronic reporting system for submission by political parties of reports on campaign expenditure is nearing its end and e-program is going to be launched in January 2017.
