Presentation of the new electronic module for media

On 24 April 2019, the Central Election Commission of Georgia presented its new electronic module allowing media organisations to appoint and register their representatives electronically at all levels of election administration. This new module was developed and is being deployed with the Council of Europe support and constitutes an expansion of the modules developed in previous years.

In 2017 the Council of Europe supported the Central Election Commission to introduce new online platform for electronic registration enabling political parties to register party proxies through a prompt and simplified procedure at all levels of election administration. For the 2018 Presidential Election, the software was expanded: additional user-friendly modules were developed and the segment of electoral stakeholders was broadened. In addition to nominating party proxies, political parties were allowed to assign commission members though online platform at all levels of election administration and all over the country, including at polling stations abroad. The software also enabled domestic observer organisations to nominate and register their representatives online.

The new module for media organisations will be tested during by-elections in May.

The electronic registration modules are being developed within the frame of the Council of Europe project “Reform of the Electoral Practice in Georgia”.
