A permanent training course for Georgian common court judges on Election Law and Election Dispute Resolution was introduced at the High School of Justice of Georgia

Council of Europe, in cooperation with ISFED (a domestic CSO) and the High School of Justice of Georgia (HSoJ), introduced a permanent training course for Georgian common court judges on Election Law and Election Dispute Resolution, which has become a part of the HSoJ curriculum. The training module for the course has been developed, including a training syllabus and pertinent training materials/script.

On 30 November – 2 December, Council of Europe expert, jointly with Georgian judges and election and legal experts from ISFED, conducted a three-day training of trainers (ToT) on Election Law and Election Dispute Resolution at the premises of the HSoJ, in Tbilisi. Six judges from Tbilisi Court of Appeals and Tbilisi City Court have completed the ToT.

Improving quality of adjudication of electoral matters remains a challenge for Georgia. Therefore, Council of Europe plans to continue supporting the training course: ToT participants, jointly with experts, will conduct a pilot training for administrative judges adjudicating on electoral matters.

The ToT was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Reform of the electoral practice in Georgia”.
