Workshop on Communications and Working Strategy for the Charter of Journalistic Ethics of Georgia

On 25-26 August, the Council of Europe organised a two-day workshop for the Charter of Journalistic Ethics – the media self-regulatory body of Georgia. The event was opened by the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Natalia Voutova, and the Executive Director of the Charter of Journalistic Ethics, Mariam Gogosashvili.

The workshop has been attended by the members of the Charter’s Council (decision-making body of the Institution) as well as its management. The workshop aimed at discussing main challenges in terms of communications and working strategy of the Charter, come to consensus among representatives of the Charter and to agree on the follow-up measures.

The activity is a continuation of a longer process of the development of working methodology and communications strategy for the institution. The Council of Europe experts in respective fields have presented their work based on previous research and interview sessions with the Charter representatives. They also facilitated the discussion among the workshop participants.

The event will be followed-up with further assistance on behalf of the Council of Europe experts in light of the development of respective strategies for the Charter.  

The activity was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Supporting Freedom of Media and Internet in Georgia”.
