The number of public servants undertaking HELP course on violence against women and domestic violence increases

20 prosecutors, inspectors and staff members of the Human Rights Protection and Quality Monitoring Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs received their certificates of completion of the HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) on 1 July. The course participants completed a 3-month online HELP course on violence against women and domestic violence which was a joint effort by the Council of Europe, the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The participants are trained on the key concepts, the international and European legal framework and the European case law governing the prevention and protection of women and girls from violence, focusing in particular on the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention.

While giving the feedback, participants mentioned that the course was one of the most interesting and useful distant learning courses they have taken recently. “The course content was well balanced and included practical exercises and case-law which I am already referring to in my everyday work”, commented one of the participants from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The course was launched and the kick-off meeting was held in the framework of the project ‘’Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Georgia”.
