A group of 25 law students from across Georgia took part in an intensive three-and-a-half-day Summer School on the European Social Charter (ESC), held between 28 July and 1 August 2025. Organised as part of the Council of Europe project “Further Enhancement of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia,” the training equipped participants with practical knowledge of European social rights, the ESC’s monitoring mechanisms, and the role of the European Committee of Social Rights.
Delivered by international and local experts, the programme combined lectures, interactive exercises, and legal skills development. Participants engaged actively in case analysis, persuasive argumentation, and drafting of collective complaints. The training also served as a preparatory phase for an upcoming moot court, offering students hands-on experience with ESC-based legal reasoning.
The event marked a significant step in building a new generation of legal professionals capable of promoting and protecting social and economic rights in Georgia, while also laying the groundwork for integrating these topics into university curricula nationwide.
The event was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Further Enhancement of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia.” The Project is implemented as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
