The Working Group on the Analysis and Improvement of the Publication of Court and Prosecutorial Decisions is meeting in Neum on 8–9 October 2026, with the support of the Council of Europe, to discuss how judicial information can be made more accessible, understandable and reliable.
Why does this matter to citizens? Because when people see information about a court case in the media or on a court website, they should be able to understand what happened, what the court decided and why. Clear and timely information can help people better understand how justice works and strengthen trust in the justice system.
At the same time, transparency requires balance. A case of domestic violence may be of clear public interest, but publishing too many details can reveal the identity of a victim – particularly a child or someone living in a small community – and cause further harm. The Working Group is therefore discussing, among other issues, how to provide meaningful information while protecting personal data, privacy and the rights of victims and minors.
The meeting is part of the Council of Europe’s support to the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina in promoting greater transparency and more consistent publication practices, in line with European human rights standards.
The meeting was held as part of the Council of Europe project “Support to a coherent national implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights and facilitating execution of ECtHR judgments in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Phase II”, which is funded through the Action plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2026-2029.
