In the framework of the Danish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europe’s Education Department will organise a conference on “Democratic Culture – from words to action”. The Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) will be launched during the event, which will gather more than 120 participants from the 50 States party to the European Cultural Convention. A new Education Policy Advisers Network (EPAN) will also be launched during the conference, covering three fields linked to the implementation of the RFCDC: Curriculum development, teaching and assessment. Expected outputs of the conference will be elements that will be used to develop a “Strategy for the implementation of the RFCDC” and a “Compendium of effective practices in teaching controversial issues in schools”.
Keynote speakers at the event will include Merete Riisager, Danish Minister of Education and Snežana Samardžić-Marković, Director General for Democracy of the Council of Europe.
