Deputy Secretary General on official visit to Morocco

The Deputy Secretary General, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, will pay an official visit to Rabat on 11-12  April. She will have an exchange of views with the state authorities on the progress of cooperation with Morocco and the prospects for partnership for the period 2018-2021. The Kingdom of Morocco is a key partner in the Council of Europe's neighbourhood policy implemented since 2011.

Close co-operation has accordingly been developed since 2012, at the request of the Moroccan authorities, in priority areas relating to human rights, democracy and the rule of law, and as part of an enhanced political dialogue.

Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni will meet the Minister for Justice, Mohamed Aujjar; the Minister for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development, Bassima El Hakkaoui; the President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Driss El Yazami; the Director of International Co-operation at the High Authority for Audio-visual Communication (HACA), Azziman Amine; the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation (MAECI), Mounia Boucetta; the inter-ministerial co-ordinator with responsibility for human rights, Mahjoub El Haiba; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki; the Moroccan delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe; and the Director General of Local Authorities at the Ministry of the Interior, Khalid Safir, Wali.

A press briefing on relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Council of Europe will be held on 12 April (3.30 pm.) at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
