Summer school 2025 on the Council of Europe legal instruments to combat corruption and violence against women

The President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mattias Guyomar, and the Director General of Human Rights and the Rule of Law of the Council of Europe (DGI), Gianluca Esposito, opened the Summer School 2025 organised by the University of Strasbourg. The event is part of the OCEAN project (Open Council of Europe Academic Networks), which aims to foster academic exchange and promote the Council of Europe’s standards through cooperation with universities.

The Summer School, entitled “Council of Europe legal instruments to combat corruption and violence against women (Istanbul Convention)”, is focusing on the Council of Europe’s Istanbul and its two anti-corruption conventions. It is taking place from 30 June to 4 July 2024 in Strasbourg.

In his opening remarks, Gianluca Esposito emphasised that “Council of Europe conventions offer a sound legal basis for countries to address together the challenges of their times. Now more than ever we need multilateral solutions to multilateral challenges.”
