Upon successful completion of the legal clinic on Article 3 of the Convention, organised under the Action, ten students participated in a study visit to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights (the Court) on 15 and 16 May 2019.
The Action pays particular attention to initiating law students to human rights law and practical application of the European Convention on Human Rights (the Convention), therefore the study visit was organised in a way to allow the participants to get a better understand of the work of European human rights institutions and encouraged them to take responsibility for respecting and promoting human rights when they return home.
The two-day study visit included individual thematic presentations on HELP online courses and recent case law of the Court on Articles 3 and 10 of the Convention. Law students had a unique opportunity to attend the Grand Chamber hearing of S.M. v. Croatia (no. application no. 60561/14).
The activity is organised under the Action “Fighting ill-treatment and impunity and enhancing the application of the European Court of Human Rights case-law on national level” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe Horizontal Facility programme and implemented by the Council of Europe.
