Twenty-seven Azerbaijani advocates received their certificates upon successful completion of the HELP course on “Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights” implemented during April-June 2019.

The activity was organised in cooperation with the Bar Association and the Academy of Justice of Azerbaijan, within the framework of the Project “Support to Justice Sector Reform Initiatives in Azerbaijan” funded by the United States of America Department of State.

The HELP course was aimed to enhance the capacity of Azerbaijani advocates in submitting the applications to the European Court of Human Rights.

Following the official launch on 13 April 2019, participants attended the ten-week online course under the supervision of HELP national tutors Ms. Sevinj Aliyeva and Mr. Babek Hamidov, members of the Azerbaijani Bar Association.

The tutored course was composed of six modules which covered the overview of the procedure before the ECtHR and different grounds for inadmissibility of applications. Furthermore, participants were trained on how to complete the form in order to make a valid application to Strasbourg Court.
