Marie B. Hagsgård, was elected in 2021 as President of the Advisory Committee, albeit assuming this function since 2020. Ms. Hagsgård served in Swedish courts for 30 years, mostly as a judge, and then was appointed to government Committees’ of Inquiry dealing with Minority rights and Sami rights. Her work as part of The Committee on Minority Languages, led to Sweden ratifying the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Ms Hagsgård is also the author of several articles in the field of Minority rights in respect to Sami populations. At present Ms Hagsgård works as a consultant of international and national minority law, primarily for local, regional and state authorities in Sweden.
