Today at its 1508th meeting, the Committee of Ministers held an exchange of views with Petra Roter, President of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, who presented the Committee’s 14th activity report covering the period from 1 June 2022 to 31 May 2024. In the report the Advisory Committee notes worrying trends against diversity and minority rights in Europe, despite some positive developments and good practices. It calls for smart, inclusive and fair policies to counter ongoing instrumentalisation and politicisation of minority rights.
