From 9 to 13 February 2026, the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities held its 88th plenary meeting in Strasbourg.
The Advisory Committee adopted its final opinion on the implementation of the Convention by Italy. This 6th cycle opinion will become public in summer 2026 once the authorities' comments, if any, are received.
The Advisory Committee also approved its draft opinions on the implementation of the Convention by Croatia, the Slovak Republic and Ukraine, which will now undergo a confidential dialogue phase with the authorities concerned before being examined again and adopted at a forthcoming plenary session.
On 10 February, the Advisory Committee held an exchange of views with Michael O’Flaherty, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights.
