Back The Butterfly Effect - how can the model help us prevent gender discrimination and gender violence in school and beyond?

This unit is designed for instructional work with a trainer or a teacher as well as for individual studying participants. Its aim is to engage educators in preventing gender discrimination and gender violence in schools. Teachers are encouraged to use this unit to get their students to develop their self-esteem and self-knowledge and to develop a positive gender identity as well as a critical attitude towards gender discrimination and sexist behaviours. Teachers will develop an increased awareness of gender discrimination in their schools, an increased capability to prevent gender violence and foster collaborative teaching and learning in their classrooms.

It is recommended to use this training unit with groups of four participants. This resource includes individual and group work, group and plenary discussions, individual time for reflection, cooperative work and presentations as well as (informal) interviews among the participants. It can be used completely or in parts to train teachers to prepare for future classroom responsibilities.
