On 24 March 2026, Albania deposited its instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Landscape Convention (ETS No. 176), becoming the 42nd State Party to the Convention.
The Convention, promoting the protection, management, and planning of landscapes, including natural and cultural heritage, will enter into force in Albania on 1 July 2026.
This is an important step for strengthening landscape governance, promoting sustainable development, and encouraging European cooperation and public participation across Europe.
