Call for participants: training course for journalists on combating hate speech in the audio-visual mass-media

The Council of Europe organises a training course on combating hate speech in the audio-visual mass-media for journalists from the Republic of Moldova. The training includes 5 sessions, on 17, 19, 21, 24 and 26 May.  

By the end of the training course, participants will:

  1. Develop their practical abilities in applying the instruments for preventing intolerance in the audio-visual mass-media
  2. Gain knowledge on the key concepts regarding the freedom of expression, non-discrimination and hate speech;
  3. Get familiar with international standards, provisions of national legislation, as well as the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights on the freedom of expression, non-discrimination and hate speech;
  4. Understand the relation between the freedom of expression and non-discrimination and hate speech in the journalistic activity.

 

The journalists interested in the subject, are invited to register for the training course until 5 May here. The participation in the training course is free.

The training course will be organised in Romanian language, online.

The training course is organised in the framework of the project Promoting European standards in the audio-visual regulation of the Republic of Moldova and of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership”, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme (PGG II), funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.
