On 20 June the Equality Hackathon has revealed the winning projects after the 48-hours marathon. The jury consisting of the field experts after careful selection named 4 winning teams out of 17. The projects are following:

1. Wheel map will show the adapted streets and buildings for wheelchairs in Tbilisi helping people to select the adapted route. The map can be continuously updated by everyone.
2. Game on equality helping players to see everyday challenges faced by LGBTI people in Georgia and experience them while playing.
3. Interactive map on gender equality will bring together statistics presenting the gender equality gaps in Georgia.
4. Social campaign Queer  will underline how diverse, colourful and equal we are.

The projects will be finalised in September.

Equality Hackathon gathered more than 120 participants online and in-person. The participants worked in groups to develop data-driven digital products promoting equality and diversity in the country. 

Equality Hackathon was organised by the Council of Europe Office in Georgia and Forset in co-operation with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency, News.On.ge, Open Society Georgia Foundation, MAC Georgia, Media Development Foundation (MDF), Tbilisi Pride, Chaikhana and Adjara Group.

Equality Hackathon is implemented in the framework of the I Choose Equality campaign which is part of the co-operation Project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
