Tako and Ana

Friendship story

Tako and Ana's 12-year relationship is one of the best examples of a diverse friendship. After reading about their story, text us and share your interesting friendship stories too, which we will publish in the next post of our rubric.

Ana: "First time I met Tako, I felt like we’d known each other for a long time! That was 12 years ago, when I was planning a photo project with a friend. To find a sponsor for my project, I visited a company that Tako worked for. Tako and his team stood out with their thoughtfulness. I had rarely encountered such business relationships before. I love professional people and I seem to recognize them by intuition sometimes. Tako was and is such a professional. So, we got to meet each other through work, which later evolved into a personal relationship and friendship. Today Tako is among the very few people whose opinion matters to me. I am ready to stop everything around me, until I hear her opinion. I trust and believe that she will give me the best advice - others even get upset and sometimes say that Tako is everything for me."

Tako: "On the very first meeting, my attention was drawn to Ana's attitude towards the work; she knew exactly what to do and had appropriate expectations from her partner. I can say that I started learning a lot from Ana from that day and the story continues. The business relationship soon turned into a friendship and we discovered that we can do a lot of things together! We became like-minded. Today Ana supports me and I always can rely on her. Through her critical thinking and evaluation, she allows me to see issues from completely different perspective. I always used to tell her, that years would pass and people would appreciate the changes that one girl has made in our society. At first, when I listened to Ana's plans, I admit I could hardly believe it was possible ☺️ anyone who knows what was going on in Mziuri years ago would understand my doubts exactly. I could not have imagined that Ana would be able to create such a perfect cafe! And today I am proud of this incredible result."

Ana: "Tako and I often think about initiatives or projects that can be done to make the environment more adaptable and universal for people with disabilities, and how to show and explain to people that pity is useless in this matter. It is essential to create and develop equal opportunities for people."

Tako: "When I met Ana, I discovered that I, as a person with Soviet childhood, knew nothing about people with disabilities. My friendship with Ana showed me many things from a completely different angle: For example, why an adapted environment is an equally important issue for everyone and why solving this problem should be a concern for everyone. Today, for example, having a ramp in any space is as much a priority for me as it is for Ana, and I can tell by glancing at a ramp if it meets Ana’s (international) standards. I think it is never too late to understand these issues correctly, however I think working with children correctly is crucial. Many studies prove that children are highly acceptive of different people and later, as a result of misguided adult intervention, a number of artificial obstacles are created that obstruct and hinder us."
