Fifth pilot training successfully implemented as two-day training online

The two-day training on “Content of the right to a fair trial (Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 47 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union)took place online on 24 and 27 February 2023. Judges of municipal and administrative courts from all over Croatia took part in the training, that was delivered by Ms Nikolina Katićassistant to the Croatian Representative before the European Court of Human Rights and Ms Morana Briški, senior advisor at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia.  Overall scope of Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights and Article 47 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights was discussed in the light of recent case law of the European Courts. The participants were made acquainted with such resources on the case law as web site of the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Croatia before the ECtHR, HUDOC, CURIA, EUR-lex, Knowledge Sharing Platform of the ECtHR and HELP platform of the Council of Europe.

This is the fifth training session in the training program developed under the Project in consultation with the project partners – the Judicial Academy of Croatia and the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Croatia before the European Court of Human Rights. The training programme is based on the recommendations from the Training Needs Assessment and takes into account the interests of target groups (criminal, civil, and administrative law practitioners), the availability of respective materials and HELP courses adapted for Croatia, and the recommendations of CoE monitoring bodies.

The Project “Promotion of the rule of law and fundamental rights through high-quality online trainings in the Croatian Judiciary” is aimed at providing support to the Judicial Academy of Croatia to improve the methodology, tools and expertise to design and deliver high-quality training.

The Project is co-funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the European Commission, the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM).
